Literary blog # 1

   WARNING SPOILERS

One missing goddess, two new demigods, and the King of the Titans Kronos is rising. Could life be more complicated for the young demigod Percy Jackson?  The book I am currently reading is called The Titan's Curse by Rick Riordan. It is the third book of the Percy Jackson and the Olympians series. During this exciting and fast-moving novel, Percy is faced with challenges, tough decisions, and new discoveries. Throughout the story Percy goes on a quest with Grover the satyr, 2 of the Hunters, and Thalia the daughter of Zeus. The demigods search here and there for Artemis, meanwhile Kronos is rising and ex-camper Luke is helping him with his evil plan. His plan is to take over Olympus and he will stop at nothing to do so. Percy goes along to help his friends find Artemis, but his mind is on other things. He is trying to rescue his close friend Annabeth and is distressed by the odd past of the two new demigods, Bianca and Nico Di Angelo. Bianca and Nico are new to Camp Half-Blood but no one is quite sure who their godly parent is. This novel is full of adventure and I would recommend it to anyone who likes Greek Mythology and adventure.

The protagonist in this book is named Percy Jackson. He is son of Poseidon; his mother is a mortal named Sally Jackson. In this book he is 14 years old. He has short black hair, sea green eyes, and average build. Percy is a very brave protagonist. In previous books this is proved many times. For example in the first book to the series, The Lightning Thief, Percy battles Medusa. He could have just run away but he faced Medusa. Percy is also a very loyal guy; he would do anything to help his friends. The whole reason he is going on the quest is to find his friend Annabeth! Another word I would use to describe Percy Jackson is humble. When he saves the day he does not go around bragging about it. One of Percy’s flaws would be a has a very quick temper. Sometimes he says things without thinking which gets the Gods mad at him from time to time. He can never seem to get along with the War God, Ares. For some reason Percy always gets mad when they are together, and he does not try and stop himself from saying something mean that could make Ares mad. Overall Percy is a very good person who always tries to help out.

This story takes place in the 21st century, I am guessing        anywhere from 200-2012 The story first starts at Westover Hall, a military school in Maine. Percy, Annabeth and Thalia are there to meet Grover and take the newly found demi-gods, Bianca and Nico Di Angelo, back to Camp Half-Blood. They were picking up demi-gods because it can be dangerous for them to be in the places that are not protected from monsters because monsters always seem to find them. Then they are all at Camp Half-Blood.. After this, the setting changes quite a bit throughout the story seeing as to they are on a quest so the group does not stay in the same spot the whole time. They go to places such as San Francisco. The military school in Maine reminds me of my old school. It sounds very royal looking and fancy. Camp Half-Blood also reminds me of a few things. It reminds me of school trip we went on because it sounds like they do various outdoor activities at Camp Half-Blood such as canoeing, archery, rock climbing and more.  It also reminds me of my old day camp I had to go too because of how they all have to sit with their cabin at lunch and we had to do that at the camp I went too as well.  So that is the setting for this novel.
