The quote I chose from the story
is “Green grass breaks through snow. Artemis pleads for my help. I am so cool.”
(Riordan 47) This quote was said by the Sun God Apollo, he was with Percy and
the Hunters to give them a ride back to Camp Half-Blood. The quote is actually
a haiku Apollo said, because Apollo loves haiku poems ever since he visited
Japan. The metaphor in this quote is “Green
grass breaks through snow.” (Riordan 47). This is a metaphor because grass can’t
literally break through snow it’s impossible. Snow weighs a lot more then grass
so that could not happen. I think he used a metaphor to exaggerate his words.
He used this to say the grass is starting to show. It could also mean the winter
is fading away and spring is coming. Another literary term the Rick Ridordan
uses is imagery. When he says “Green grass breaks through snow” (Riordan 47) he
is using visual imagery to describe the grass. I chose this quote because I think
it is just a really random part in the book. Its 3 sentences that have nothing
to do with each other. This quote is not really important to the story because it
doesn’t really have anything to do with the main story line. However, it does
speak of Artemis which she is pretty influential to the story line because if
she had not been kidnapped the story would be completely different because the
main purpose of the quest is to find Artemis. I chose this quote because it is quite random
and I think most things in my life up until this point have been out of the
blue and somewhat random. It also does not really make sense and I think that
many things that happen to me don’t really make any sense! So this was a
memorable part of the book and that’s another reason why I chose it.
